X-Dipole: Far-field simulations; 30m band.
(Calculations performed using EZNEC+ v5.0)

Simple dipole feed:

N and S wires driven.
E and W wires unconnected.

Model: x45dipole2.ez (simulation frequency set to 10.1MHz).

Max. Gain is at ±37° from North and ±37° from South. Pattern can be rotated through 90° by connecting transmitter to E and W wires.

Shown below is a slice through the direction indicated in red.

Splayed dipole feed:

N and W wires connected.
S and E wires conneceted.

Model: x45splay2.ez (simulation frequency set to 10.1MHz).

Enhanced low-angle radiation in broadside directions.

Yagi Feed:

Model: x45_yagi_500nH.ez .
Inductively loaded reflector increases low-angle radiation in forward direction and provides some degree of back rejection.

Slice through the direction marked in red:
L = 0.5mH

Skewed Yagi Feed:
Model: x45_skyagi_500nH.ez .
